CGA Canadian Committees

CGA Canadian Committees Spotlight

Did you know that the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) has six Canadian committees? While these committees may be smaller in membership than CGA base committees, they provide valuable resources and knowledge to CGA and its standards development. Highlighted below are the committees and their respective missions.

CCY Canadian Cylinder Specifications Committee

The Canadian Cylinder Specifications Committee represents the concerns of the compressed gas industry on issues relating to the specification, safe use, repair, and standardisation of compressed gas cylinders, containers, and related equipment in Canada. Their engagement extends to the following:

  • Transport Canada and the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations;
  • CSA standards B339, B340, B341, and B342;
  • ISO/TC58 and its subcommittees and working groups; and
  • UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods – Model Regulations. The committee is an active collaborator with CGA’s Acetylene, Cylinder Specifications, and Cylinder Valves Committees.

CSE Canadian Health, Safety, and Environment

Canadian Health, Safety, and Environment Committee is to:

  • promote improved safety and health and environmental practices among CGA members through exchange of information, compilation of statistics, and other appropriate educational programmes;
  • review Canadian safety and health and environmental regulations and other regulations that will impact on these Canadian regulations;
  • interactively assist and guide Canadian federal, provincial, and local governments and regulatory agencies in developing responsible safety and health and environmental regulations for the industry;
  • examine CGA publications and recommendations, where appropriate, so they are consistent with acceptable Canadian standards on safety and health and environmental practices; and
  • provide advice and service to and receive assignments from the Canadian Executive Committee, Standards Council, other CGA committees, and CGA staff regarding Canadian safety and health and environmental issues in the manufacture, storage, transportation, distribution, use, and disposal of gas and equipment products of the member companies.
